Wilbur C. Goatley Obituary (1926 - 2020)

Wilbur C. Goatley, 94 of Pana passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in Heritage Health--Pana. He was born July 15, 1926 in Pana, son of the late Ralph B. & Herta S. (Stock) Goatley. Wilbur married Peggy Alde on October 1, 1949 and had just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. She survives in Pana. Wilbur was a graduate of Pana Township High, Class of 1944. He was a member of the United in Faith Church, Pana, where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He was also a member of the Christian County Farm Bureau, Trustee of the Millersville Cemetery Board, delivered Meals on Wheels and was an Election official. Wilbur owned and operated his own farming and trucking operations. He enjoyed helping friends & family. His family was very important to him; he never missed a grandchild's sporting event, recital or school activity. Along with his wife, Wilbur is survived by his children: Gail (Steve) Morrell, Pana, IL; David (Niki) Goatley, Pana, IL; Gary (Lisa) Goatley, Pana, IL; Keith Goatley, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Matthew (Laura) Morrell, Amanda (David) Lipe, Morgan (Joshua) Ritonya, Mike (Crissy) Campbell, Melissa (Sam) Bonney, Chelsea Goatley, Logan Goatley, Cameron Goatley, Tysen Goatley, Ezra Goatley; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Donna Klein, Pana, IL and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Benjamin "Ben" Goatley in 2011; brother-in-law, Kenneth Klein: and one nephew. A memorial service for Wilbur will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in the United in Faith Church, Pana. Private burial will be held. Memorials in Wilbur's honor may be made to the United in Faith Church, Pana and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
