Thelma L. McKee Obituary (1924 - 2015)

Thelma L. McKee, 91, of Pana died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in Heritage Health, Pana. She was born February 8, 1924 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of the late Charles Lloyd Evelyn Hannah (Stone) Nichols. She was raised in Oakwood, IL, moved to Crawfordsville, IN then to Bloomington, IL and came to Pana in 1961. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pana; Pana Red Roses Red Hat Society, and Arcana Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Thelma had worked 15 years for New York Central Railroad in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio; Pana School District; 19 years at grain elevators in Pana, Millersville, Owaneco and Assumption until retirement and also at Pla-Mor Danceland for numerous years. She enjoyed needlepoint, music, dancing and was an extensive world traveler. Her favorite travel spots included the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and Australia. If you said "go" her bags were packed. Thelma Nichols and Loren C. "Moe" McKee were united in marriage on July 7, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1987. She is survived by her daughter Toni McKee, Springfield, IL; brother Charles Nichols wife Mary Lou of Veedersburg, IN; sister Donna Karshner, Cedar Rapids, IA and by numerous nieces nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Delores Kelley and Kae Fuller; and her brothers-in-law Kenneth Karshner and Ansel Kelley. Funeral Information Funeral services will be Friday, December 4, 2015 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
