Raymond Leo "Bud" Rakers Obituary (1932 - 2016)

Raymond Leo "Bud" Rakers, 83, of Ramsey, IL, died Friday, May 13, 2016 in Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born October 30, 1932 in Pana to the late Henry Elizabeth (Reiss) Rakers. Bud was a member of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, in Austria Germany from 1951-1953. He was a member of the Catholic Church the Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee. He made his living as a farmer, retiring in 1997. Bud was "Popo" to any and all children, supporting each one by going to all of their activities. Raymond Rakers Donna Temmen were united in marriage on July 21, 1962 in Oconee. She survives in Ramsey, IL, along with their children: Coleen Rakers, St. Louis, MO; Leo Rakers wife Tammy, Denver, CO; Brian Rakers wife Karen, Snow Hill, NC; Mollie Beyers husband Jeffrey S., Pana, IL; Patra Deere husband Craig, Pana, IL; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Moreland. Funeral Information Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee at 10:00 a.m. with Father Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with rosary at 3:30 p.m. led by Father Don Roberts.
