Ralph E. Schuman Obituary (1921 - 2013)

Ralph E. Schuman, 92, of Taylorville, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born March 2, 1921 in Decatur, IL, the son of John J. Rosalie Nichols Schuman, Sr. Ralph graduated high school in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942-1945, and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, from 1948-1952. Ralph was a heavy equipment mechanic, and enjoyed electronics and building small electronic objects. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days. Ralph is survived by his children: Tina, Robert, Raymond, Ralph, Shelly, Michael; 5 grandchildren: Michael Moore, Anastasia Moore, Danielle Lee, Matthew Schuman, Justine Eckhardt; 2 great grandchildren: Deegan Smith Brylee Moore; brothers: Richard, Gene, Jimmee Schuman, Darrell, Leroy; and sisters: Maxine Shirley. He was preceded in death by his parents; children: Sharon, Sheila, Randol; and brothers: Donald, Arthur, John Jr., Kenneth, Ronald Ray. Funeral Information Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until service time in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Greg White officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield with military rites by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail.
