Rachel Eileen Oary Obituary (1927 - 2017)

Rachel Eileen Oary, 89, of Pana, died Monday, February 20, 2017 in Heritage HealthPana. She was born October 1, 1927 in Tallahassee, FL, daughter of the late Wallace Earl & Nettie Mae Murphy Golden. Rachel grew up in Springfield, also living in Rochester & Edinburg, coming to Pana in 1960. She was a member of and attended Bible Baptist Church until she could no longer attend due to her health. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed making plastic canvases and working puzzles, which she enjoyed with her family. Rachel Golden and Lester L. Oary were married in September 1949 in Springfield Asbury Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1988. She is survived by her children: Terry (Diane) Oary, Hagerstown, MD; Jennie Gallaher, Pana, IL; John Oary, Pana, IL; and Peggy (Tim) Eddy, Pana, IL; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; sister: Daryl Pettyjohn, Casselburry, FL; and brother: Morris Orr Butch Golden, Aurora, CO. She was also preceded by her daughter, Annette Curry; daughter-in-law, Debra Starlene Oary on January 14, 2016; sisters, Sarah Jane Scott & Myra Ann Othmeyer; & brother: Carroll Eugene Sonny Golden. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Gruis officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
