Orville Ivan Blue Obituary (1922 - 2014)

Orville Ivan Blue, 92, of Pana died Friday, October 31, 2014 in his home. He was born September 29, 1922 in Rockwell City, Iowa, the son of Roy Nellie Cecil Blue, deceased. A graduated of Cerro Gordo High School, Ivan served in the US Army, Company B 16th sig operations battalion 1943-1946. He earned 2 bronze stars, and was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He is a retired installer for Western Electric. For many years, Ivan had helped with the Pana Christmas Baskets. Orville Ivan Blue and Mabel Kirkbride were united in marriage on December 24, 1946 in the Buckeye Methodist Church in Owaneco, IL. He is survived by his wife Mabel Blue, Pana, IL; children: John Blue, Georgetown, IL; Bob Blue, Bend, OR; Jim Blue, Pana, IL; Bill Blue, Supulpa, OK; Elaine Blue, Tucson, AZ; and Janet Blue, Tower Hill, IL; 5 grandchildren: Kevin (Melissa) Blue, Crista (Dean) White, Dillon (Beth) Kircher, Kane Kircher, Ashley (Andrew) Parrish; and b 7 great grandchildren: Mallory, Courtney, George, Lilly and Matthew Blue, Daylen Roxanne Kircher. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Blue. Funeral Information Visitation will be Thursday 6 - 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Palmer officiating. A private family burial will be held.
