Okey Rudow Obituary (1932 - 2008)

Okey Rudow, 75, of Pana died Friday, May 16, 2008 in his residence. He was born July 6, 1932 in Pana, son of Walter Sadie Mae Mose Rudow. A graduate of Pana Township High School, he served in the U. S. Army. Okey lived most of his life in the Pana area except for a couple of years when he lived in Calumet City where he worked in the Kroger store. Okey was in the grocery business for the biggest part of his life. He owned and operated Okey's Market on 6th Street in Pana, worked for the Wareham's Dairy Co., later had his own milk route, then worked for his brother Paul in Rudow's Market in Pana, then operated the grocery store with his brother Russell in Shelbyville, and worked for Johnston's Market in Pana where he retired from the grocery business. He then worked for the Pana School District as a bus driver. He enjoyed golf, playing pinochle and doing woodworking. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moose Club, Elks Lodge, and Eagles Club all in Pana. Okey is survived by three children: Nancy Turner husband Fred, Verona, WI; Ron Rudow, Madrid, Spain; Jane Rudow, Deerfield, WI; two step children: Bob Miller wife Belinda, Pana, IL and David Miller wife Valerie, Gays, IL; 8 grandchildren: Leah Turner, Annie Turner, Max Bell, Jenny Lehn, Jonathan Miller, Jake Miller, Levi Miller, Jeremy Miller; 2 great grandchildren: Taya Miller Shelby Miller; three brothers: Gene Rudow wife Bina, Bloomington, IL; Russell Rudow wife Mary Jane, Charlotte Harbor, FL; Norman Rudow wife Jackie, Pana, IL; and by his sister-in-law: Beverly Rudow, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Paul F. Rudow, Walter Rudow, Carl Rudow Robert Rudow; and by two sisters: Roberta Rudow Helen Talbott. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. In-Sook Hwang officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
