Noel Pershing Jones Obituary (1918 - 2008)

Noel Pershing Jones, 90, of Pana, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Heritage Manor-Pana. He was born September 24, 1918 in Herrick, IL, the son of Rollie and Sarah Ann "Sadie" Sarver Jones. Noel had lived his entire life in Pana and worked for Illinois Roses Limited. He was also a farmer and rural mail carrier. He served in World War II with the United States Air Force. Noel was an avid Cardinal fan. He loved his grandchildren and followed them through each of their sports careers. Noel enjoyed playing pinochle and all sporting activities, including fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening and telling stories. His memberships included: First United Methodist Church, Pana; Locust Lodge #623 AF AM, Owaneco; Elks Lodge #1261, Pana; Pana Sportsman's Club; Christian County Shriners Club; Ansar Shriners, Springfield. Noel married Jane Kirkbride on November 20, 1943 in Hobbs, NM. He is survived by his wife: Jane Jones, Pana; son: Daryl Jones, Petersburg, MI; daughters: Barbara Jones, Georgetown, IL Noela Bruns husband Mike, Shelbyville, IL; 4 grandchildren: Michael Jones, Aaron Bruns, Daniel Bruns, Chelsea Iott; 4 great grandchildren: Brady Jones, Addison Jones, Joel Bruns, Shylee Iott. He was preceded in death by parents; 10 sisters: Wavie Edna Jones in infancy, Zelma Alice Beck, Bessie Mary Naomi Haun, Hattie Luella Beck, Sylvia Sarah Ann Robson, Lela Claudia Hilton, Lillian Nellie Bolding, Julia Marie Middleton, Florence Jane Green, Eva LaFonda Syfert, 1 brother: Homer Chastian Jones; grandson, Brian Jones. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. David Hultberg officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond with graveside military rites by American Legion/VFW/AmVets Honor Guard, Pana. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Masonic rites at 8:00 p.m.
