Marvin "Chilly" Childress Obituary (1937 - 2011)

Marvin "Chilly" Childress, 73, of Millersville, died Wednesday June 15, 2011 in Heritage Manor-Pana. He was born June 29, 1937 in Loudon Township, Fayette County, the son of Orville Bernice Grubaugh Childress. Chilly graduated from Beecher City High School in 1954 and then served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard. In his early years, Chilly lived in the Beecher City and Pana areas. In 2003, he moved from Florida to Millersville. He and his wife, Jean, owned and operated Chilly Jean's Painting in Florida. Marvin Childress and Delpha Jean Musser were united in marriage on July 12, 1976 in Lee County, FL. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2011. Chilly is survived by his children: Lisa Mulvany husband Scott, Stewardson, IL; Stanley Childress wife Pat, Altamont, IL; Kimberly Finley husband Mark, Nokomis, IL; Blair Crow, Witt, IL and David Crow, Witt, IL; 8 grandchildren:Shelby Tull, Kenneth Forbes, Jr., Meredith Mulvany, Aiden Mulvany, Brad Finley, Randi Crow, Sam Crow, and Amanda Crow; 2 great grandchildren: Dalton Jordyn Finley; and by his sisters: Jane Childress, Dillsburg, PA and Janet Channel, Lebanon, IL. He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Stacey Childress; and sister, Rose Shadwell on March 25, 2009. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with PeeWee Denton officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
