Lawrence G. Nicol Obituary (1921 - 2009)

Lawrence G. Nicol, 88, of Pana, died Friday, July 17, 2009 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was born May 21, 1921 in Assumption, IL, the son of Alexander Esther Galvin Nicol. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Larry lived his entire life in the Pana and Assumption area. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana and had worked for Tanner Theater in Pana. Lawrence Nicol and Betty Barber were united in marriage on January 11, 1945 She preceded him in death on January 8, 2007. He is survived by his children: Diana Ray husband Larry, Vandalia, IL; Sheryl Bland, Davenport, IA; Larry Nicol wife Ruby, Pana, IL; Linda Oliver husband Gary, Rockford, IL; Irene Gatewood, Hillsboro, IL; and William "Billy" Nicol wife Sandy, West Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and by his brother, Norman Nicol, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Ethridge; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Lyle Nicol, William Nicol, Donald Nicol, Wayne Nicol Robert Nicol; and sisters Eleanor Pryce Elizabeth Daugherty. Funeral Information Funeral mass will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana with graveside military rites by VFW/American Legion/AmVets Honor Guard.
