Katherine Joan Kays McNeese Obituary (1925 - 2016)

Katherine Joan Kays McNeese, 91, of Pana, died Saturday, December 24,2016 in Heritage HealthPana. She was born January 30, 1925 in Decatur, IL, daughter of Thomas and Verna Brewer Kays. Joan married Max McNeese on November 9, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2012. Joan (always known as JoAnn) was a stay at home mother with her 3 children. She bowled until she was 85 years old on a league at the Pana Bowl. She had enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Closet in Nokomis. She was an accomplished seamstress and always dressed to a 'T'. She was a member of the South Fork United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Joan is survived by two children: Dennis (wife Jill) McNeese of Bloomington and Nancy (husband Rickie) Aucoin of Arkansas; 8 grandchildren: Rock Mutchler; Brett, Nathan, Ashley, & Darin McNeese; Meleah Vaughan; Kate VanOpstall and Blaise McNeese; 11 great grandchildren; & 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, Max, and her son David in 2016. Funeral Information A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
