John "Jack" Denton Obituary (1936 - 2009)

John "Jack" Denton, 73, of Pana, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born February 27, 1936 in Pana, the son of Mervin O. Mary Rogers Denton. Jack graduated from Pana High School in 1954, and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He lived in Pana until 1974, when he moved to Wisconsin. He then lived in Florida from 1994-1998, before moving back to Pana. Jack was the Assistant Director of the Wisconsin State Fair from 1974-1994. He was also the President of the Pana Tri County Fair Board from 1963-1969, and the Administration Manager for the Illinois State Fair from 1970-1974. Jack was a member of the United in Faith Church, Pana and a past member of the Pana Elks Lodge #1261 He married Connie Domonousky on June 7, 1959 in the First United Presbyterian Church, Pana. Jack is survived by his wife: Connie Denton, Pana, IL; son: Mark Denton, Pana, IL; 3 grandchildren: Kayla, Drake, Deidre. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Christopher Denton; brother: Stephen L. Denton. Funeral Information A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the United in Faith Church, 301 E. Second St., Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Marilyn Rauch officiating. Inurnment will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.
