Joe Holthaus Obituary (1928 - 2010)

Joe Holthaus, 82, of Pana died Saturday, November 20, 2010 in his residence. He was born October 1, 1928 in Pana, son of Herman F. Agnes Pohlman Holthaus. A graduate of Pana Township High School, Joe lived his entire life in Pana except while serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from CAT in 1987 and after retirement, was manager of Super Wash in Pana. Joe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana; Pana Knights of Columbus; Local UAW #751; Roy Ireland American Legion Post #317, Oconee. He sharpened saws, enjoyed woodworking, McDonald's coffee group, the outdoors and playing the lottery. Joe married JoAnn Fink on February 14, 1953 in Sacred Heart Parish House in Oconee. He is survived by his sons: Phillip M. Holthaus, Pana, and Stephen J. Holthaus wife Lori A., Shelbyville; 4 grandchildren: Britney M. Trexler husband Jared, Breanne M. Eaton, Brandon M. Holthaus wife Gail, Stephanie D. Demascal; 2 great grandchildren: Chase N. Eaton Dane Niehart; brothers: Bernard Holthaus wife Ruth, Baldwin, MO and Carl Holthaus wife Lucille, Shelbyville, IL; and by his sister: Teresa Beck, Oconee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on February 2, 2001, brothers: Paul Holthaus, Francis Holthaus, Raymond Holthaus, Arthur Holthaus, and sisters: Dorothy Lohr Adele Price. Funeral Information Funeral mass will be Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland Post #317, Oconee. Friends may call Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with rosary at 8:00 p.m.
