Fred Curlin Obituary (1919 - 2012)

Fred Curlin, 93, of Pana, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born September 23, 1919 in Tower Hill, the son of Alva Ada Mae Harlow Curlin. Fred was a graduate of Tower Hill High School and had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was raised in Tower Hill, and had lived in Pana his entire adult life. Fred worked at Oliver Tractor in Shelbyville for 30 years until it closed, and then went to work for Caterpillar, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed woodworking, growing flowers, and working in his yard. Fred was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana; American Legion, Pana; Knights of Columbus, Pana. Fred Curlin and Mary Dudra were married on June 24, 1950 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2008. He is survived by his daughter:Mary Pat Zimmerman husband Kent, Hillsboro, IL; son: Dan Curlin, Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren:Lindsey Jones husband Jason, Savannah, GA; Chad Zimmerman wife Emily, Hillsboro, IL; Olivia Curlin Wes Curlin, Indianapolis, IN; great grandchild: Sawyer Jones; and soon expecting 2 more great grandchildren, Cooper Jones Blake Curlin; brother: James A. Curlin, Decatur, IL; sisters: Betty Mathias, Granite City, IL Peg Bennett, Ashland, OR; sisters-in-law: Anna Marie Wetherell Rhoda Dudra, both of Pana, IL; and several nieces nephews. Besides his wife, Fred was preceded by his parents brother, Marshall Curlin. Funeral Information Funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with rosary at 4:00 p.m.
