Charles "Sie" Durbin Obituary (1920 - 2012)

Charles "Sie" Durbin, 91, of rural Pana died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born August 20, 1920 in Palmer, Illinois, the son of Mathias E. and Ollie Eilers Durbin. A graduate of Rosamond Township High School, he lived his entire life near Rosamond where he farmed. Sie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis where he was very active. He had served as Elder and Trustee and in other capacities. He was a member of Pana Lions Club, Christian County Farm Bureau, Rosamond COOP Board of Directors for 37 years, Rosamond Township Board of Directors. He loved to play golf and fish. Charles Durbin and Leona L. Kluthe were united in marriage on December 5, 1941. Sie is survived by his wife: Leona Durbin, Pana, IL; sons: Larry Durbin wife Audrey, Tower Hill, IL and Chris Durbin, Monticello, IL; daughters: Marcia Freed and Cathy Rigsby husband Dale, both of Fairbury, IL; 12 grandchildren: Gina Osborn, Wes Durbin, Angie Veiback, Jason Bolding, Cody Freed, Eli Rigsby, Natalie Murray, Riley Rigsby, Bailey Hancock, Ty Durbin, Townes Durbin, Olivia Durbin; 12 great grandchildren; Anna Osborn, Claire Osborn, Cayden Durbin, Kynlie Durbin, Carley Veiback, Noah Veiback, Vennett Bolding, Bronwyn Rigsby, Ellie Rigsby, McKay Rigsby, Monroe Wittman, and Laila Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Roger Charles Durbin on July 20, 1976; great great grandson; Carson Roger Etter on May 17, 2011; and by his brother: Lyle Durbin. Funeral Information Funeral services will be Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Bert Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 until time of service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis.
