Catherine R. Strong Obituary (1915 - 2012)

Catherine R. Strong, 97, of Pana, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Heritage Health-Pana. She was born April 27, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of John Edwin Hazel M. Forbes Rose. Catherine graduated high school in Chicago, then lived in Decatur, and had been in Pana for 10 years. She was a homemaker and was the past president of the Shelby, Macon, Moultrie County Girl Scout Council; past president of Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; held offices in several other organizations including: T.B. Association, Visiting Nurses, and Easter Seals, all in Decatur. She married Paul Stanley Strong on May 20, 1939 in Chicago. He preceded her on October 4, 1990. Catherine is survived by her son: P. Scott Strong, Pana, IL; 2 grandchildren: Elizabeth Hart husband Matt, Des Moines, IA and Tanya Y. Strong, Coal City, IL; 2 great grandchildren: Jena Hart Charles Hart. Along with her husband, she was preceded by parents; 1 granddaughter, Catherine Y. Strong on October 9, 1989; and sisters: June Paasche Dr. Mona Rose. Funeral Information Cremation rights will be accorded. Private family inurnment services will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
