Candace E. "Candy" Cothern Obituary (1951 - 2022)

Candace E "Candy" Cothern, 71 of Pana, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 in Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL. She was born April 4, 1951 in Cleveland, OH to the late C.R. & Dorothy Latham. She married Kevin Cothern on February 14, 1981 in Hinesville, GA and he survives. Candy was an active member of the Assumption Christian Church, work primarily as a homemaker, though she did fill several positions in the Pana area, including working at Walmart, Dr. Marcin's office. She enjoyed music, singing, and watching game shows and working puzzle to keep her mind sharp. She was very outgoing and loved her grandchildren more than anything. Along with her husband, Candy is also survived by her children: Larry (Sara) Cothern, Decatur, IL; Steven (Fiance Sadie Waddington) Cothern, Pana, IL; Christopher Cothern, IN; Matthew (Tiffany) Cothern, Olney, IL; grandchildren: T.J. Cothern, Cameron Cothern, Sabrina Cothern, Korbin Cothern, Aiden Cothern, Gavin Cothern, Faith Cothern, Ember Cothern, Kaydence Cothern (arriving soon); great-grandchildren: Paisley Cothern and Sawyer Cothern (arriving soon); and siblings: Becky Edmonds, MD; Michael Golden, GA. She was also preceded by her siblings, Jim Latham and Gail Tamez. A memorial service for Candy will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Assumption Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Anthony Tuell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Memorials in Candy's honor may be made to Shelbyville Community Dialysis or Assumption Christian Church and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
