Alverta R. Brown Obituary (1927 - 2009)

Alverta R. Brown, 82, of Pana, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center. She was born February 12, 1927 in Henton, IL, daughter of Jonny Stella Sanford Dilley. Alverta lived all of her life in Pana area. She retired after working 20 years for the Illinois Secretary of State. She was a member of the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, rural Tower Hill. Alverta married Rev. Ancil R. Brown October 24, 1944 in Pana. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2006. She is survived by her children:Dewayne Brown wife Mary, Pana; Dewight Brown wife Celia, Pana; Karl Brown wife Sherry, Shelbyville; Rev. Ronald Brown wife Penny, Pana; and Rhonda Brown husband Kent, Pana; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brothers: Gene Dilley, Henton; Woodrow "Woody" Dilley, Olney; and Jesse Dilley, Pana; and sisters: Letha Thomas, Laceys Spring, AL Shirley Jones, Pana. Alverta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Clifford Brown in infancy; 1 grandson; 1 granddaughter; and 11 brothers sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, Tower Hill at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Mouser officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery, Oconee. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
