Lawrence "Virgil" Crowe Obituary (1931 - 2018)

Lawrence "Virgil" Crowe, 86, of Pana, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Heritage Health--Pana. He was born October 11, 1931 in Rosamond, son of the late Leroy Alpha & Ferne Viola (McMillen) Crowe. Virgil lived his entire life in Rosamond & Pana, serving as a member of the Pana Christian Church, Pana American Legion, and the Operating Engineers Local #520. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Beyers Construction. He collected trains and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed drinking coffee with his bud, Toz Lebon. Virgil married Shirley West on September 25, 1953 in First United Methodist Church Parsonage. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2014. He is survived by his son, Mark (Sandra) Crowe, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Colton Crowe, Charleston, IL and Whitney (Chris) Blythe, Windsor, IL; 2 great grandchildren: Leo Crowe & Janson Blythe; brother, Dale Crowe, Pana, IL; and sisters: Elsie (Dave) Spurgeon, Pana, IL and Vivian Burnett, Missouri. He was also preceded by his brothers, Kenneth Crowe & Harold Crowe and sisters, Betty Rakers & Lois Watts. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Pana Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Altman officiating. Inurnment will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church. Memorials in Virgil's honor may be made to the Pana Christian Church or for the benefit of Virgil's great grandchildren, Leo & Janson and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
